Technology Insurance
Owning a business in today’s world of advanced technology presents its own set of unique risks and challenges. Something as simple as one of your employees unknowingly opening an email with a virus can have dire consequences for your business. Not only is your company’s network compromised, but those that access it are vulnerable, too. As a result, you can be held responsible for a client’s lost data or network shutdown.
As a company that depends heavily on 21st century technology to transact business in the global market place, we understand the challenges that technology companies face. Whether you are building websites, hosting your client’s critical data, or building computer systems, errors caused on your end or claims not properly managed could cause harm to those depending on your services. We have products designed specifically for the technology industry to protect your business.
Errors and omissions coverage is not included in a Commercial General Liability policy. Therefore, coverage for programming errors, contract performance disputes, or any other liability issues is not provided.
Some Technology Industry Business Owner policies do provide optional coverage selections for Errors and Omissions, or Professional IT Liability. It is important to work with a broker that understands the specific needs of your industry. Typical features of a Professional Liability policy for IT risks include:
- Business Interruption and Additional Expenses Coverage – Coverage for loss of income and additional expense incurred to restore operations that have been disrupted by a virus or other unauthorized computer attack.
- Errors and Omissions – Also known as Technology Professional Liability Insurance or IT Liability insurance, this insurance protects you in the event a client alleges that you were professionally negligent or failed to perform duties as promised in your contract, made programming errors, contract performance disputes, or any other liability issues specific to your profession.
- Extortion Expenses Coverage – Coverage for money you pay due to threats made regarding intent to sell or disclose information about your customers, initiate an intentional attack on your computer or communications network, destroy data, or other covered threats against you.
- Security Breach Notification and Remediation Expenses Coverage – Coverage for costs incurred by you as a result of a security breach.
- Ransom Coverage – Coverage in the event that someone steals and holds hostage, demanding ransom money, your website, client information, domain, etc.
At QSIG, we work closely with you to understand your business and tailor your insurance needs to protect you from technological risks.
